COMMITTEE REPORTS

None at this time.

EMERALD ASH BORER

Smith Tree and Landscape has recommended that Highlands Cooperative continue treating the remaining ash trees on the property.

Smydra moved, Ellena seconded that we follow through with Smith Tree and Landscape’s recommendation to continue fertilization of the ash trees on the property for a total cost of $5875.00 for the 2005 budget year, and subsequent years being $4200.00 per year.  Approved 4-0.

TENT WORMS ON PROPERTY TREES

Mr. Smydra reported on tent worms living in a tree near his unit.  Mr. Lyon stated that while they look bad, they do not damage the tree.  Mr. Smydra suggested that an article be placed in the next newsletter giving factual information about the tent worms.

PINE TREE IN FRONT OF JACKIE GUYER’S UNIT

Ms. Guyer asked Management when this unsightly tree was planned to be moved.  Ms. Miller reported that it would be moved this fall.

2005/2006 BUDGET (DRAFT)

Mr. Lyon reported that a preliminary 2005/2006 budget has been presented to the Board for review.

GROUNDS BUILDING

Ms. Miller gave an update of the Grounds Building project.

DUMPSTERS

Ms. Guyer asked when the dumpsters would be moved back to the Maintenance Building parking lot.  Ms. Miller reported they would be moved back this week.

OLD BUSINESS

Moles:  Ms. Ellena stated that she has noticed as she has walked the grounds near her unit that the earth is very uneven, and asked if we treated for moles.  Ms. Miller stated that we treat for grubs, which is what the moles live on.  Ms. Miller will investigate getting traps for mole infested areas on the property.

NEW BUSINESS

Use of Highlands Cooperative name in written communications:  When Ms. Guyer was reviewing the Board packet, she noticed that in exhibit 24, “Highlands” was stated instead of “Highlands Cooperative Association”.  Mr. Lyon said that he filled that particular form out, and he will see that it is corrected.

PARK PLANNING GROUP

Mr. Smydra noticed in the Board packet that a meeting was held on July 13, 2005 to discuss the future of the basketball court area in Georgetown Park.  No decisions were made at this meeting, and it has been noticed that the park is not being used as much as before.  This group will meet again in September, and Management will invite representatives from the Arbors at Georgetown to attend as well.
