OPEN MINUTES

Board Members Present:  Ellena, Jane, Smith, Smydra

 

Board Member Absent:  Guyer

 

Management Present:  Miller, Lyon

 

Meeting called to order at 5:00 p.m.

 

Open Minutes

 

Jane moved, Ellena seconded to approve the August 26, 2007, minutes with corrections.

 

Member Concerns

 

Pat Smydra, 6334 Balfour:  She inquired if Management had heard from Carol Wood.  She informed the Board that she had called the police about a fight on Georgetown between Highlands and the Arbors of Georgetown.  The police came.  She also stated that a co-worker of hers lives at Arbors of Georgetown and she called the police about all kinds of drug dealing and was told there was nothing they could do because it was private property.  Smydra stated that she might attend the next City Council meeting.

 

Georgia Vroman, 6220 Balfour: She questioned if an addendum to the parking Policy could be put in place so that motorcycles could not park on the sidewalks.  She stated that it prevents the lawn form being mowed. 

 

Smith requested that the Parking Policy be put on the agenda for review at the October Board meeting.

 

Ms. Vroman questioned why the trash people were not picking up the large items that members were putting out.

 

Miller explained the issues Highlands was having with Waste Management.

 

Ms. Vroman commented about possiblily amending the Pet Policy to stop people from walking their dogs in the common area.

 

Ms. Vroman commented about the grounds personnel driving around and not picking up trash.  She has also observed the employees on the Torros mowing over big trash.

Barb Lewis, 6216 Balfour:  Wanted to know why an oversized truck has been allowed to park in the parking lot since June?

 

Linda Masters, 6222 Balfour:  Requested that a notice go to all members about loud music from vehicles and that the information from the City Attorney be given to the members.

 

Management Report

 

2007/2008 Budget

 

Smydra moved, Smith seconded to accept the proposed budget with a $10 increase.  Approved 4-0.

 

New Business:

 

Nanette Miller “Property Manager of the Year”

 

Management announced to the Board and members in attendance that Nanette Miller received “Property Manager of the Year” for Midwest Management.

 

Old Business:

 

Norris Ingells Walk for Nature

 

Smith presented copies of publicity Highlands received in the process of promoting the event.
