OPEN MINUTES

Smith moved, Jane seconded to accept the Open Minutes of March 19, 2008 as written.  Approved 4-0 (Guyer abstained)

Georgia Vroman, 6220 Balfour

Ms. Vroman informed the Board that she felt Highlands Cooperative was a “wonderful neighborhood” in which to live, and thanked the Board for its service.  Ms. Vroman also suggested that, with the high cost of utilities, Management and the Goard might be wise to look at additional ways to save water during the upcoming summer months.

Helen Geiger, 6107 Haag

Ms. Geiger recently reviewed Highlands Cooperative’s Financial Report and had the following question and/or concerns.

  1. What/Who are Consultants on Call, and asked about an entry in the January 2008 check register.  Management has details and will follow-up.

  1. Who is Lindsey Morrissey?

Ms. Geiger also expressed concern about Highlands’ lawn mowing and grounds in general, and asked the Board to “raise their standard” of work performed.

Mr. Lyon addressed Ms. Geiger’s questions as follows. 1.) He explained that Consultants on Call are personnel that provide technical support to the Cooperative such as a computer specialist, 2.) Ms. Morrissey is a person hired to scan nearly thirty years of records into the computer that must be maintained; thereby eliminating unnecessary storage of this paperwork.

Smith recognized Ms. Geiger’s concern for the general looks of the Cooperative; and feels that the property is very well maintained.  Ms. Smith also noted the 2006 GLAStar award Highlands received for Best Curb Appeal.  However, Smith asked that Ms. Geiger meet with Management to help identify specific areas of the Cooperative that she feels might need attention.

Playground Committee Report

Ms. Jane informed the Board that the Playground Committee has put all future committee meetings on hold until more information concerning this project becomes available.  The Board will be updated as needed.

Tornado Damage/Repair Report

Mr. Lyon informed the Board that all repairs are almost completed, and that all monies have been received form the insurance company.  However, due to Highlands and Woodbridge’s deductible being combined on a claim, Woodbridge will owe us 50% of the deductible when the claim is settled.

Inspections

Management informed the Board that the 2008 annual inspections are almost completed.

Policy Review

The Board reviewed the Car Washing Policy for clarification purposes.  Members are allowed to wash their vehicles in the parking lots, however, driving onto the lawn area(s) of the Cooperative is prohibited.

OLD BUSINESS - None

OLD BUSINESS

Ms. Smith read a card received from member Lucia Campbell, 6248 Balfour, indicating her pleasure, that of her neighbors, and her guests regarding the flowers and general up-keep of the grounds.  All are genuinely pleased.

Meeting Adjourned at 6:33 p.m.

I certify that this is a true and accurate statement of the Board Meeting of May 21, 2008.

Respectfully submitted,
